Glycemic and cardiometabolic effects of rare sugars allulose and tagatose

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition examined the glycemic and cardiometabolic effects of two rare sugars — allulose and tagatose — across controlled human intervention trials. The findings provide clinical evidence supporting the use of these low-calorie sweeteners as functional sugar alternatives with favorable effects on blood glucose and metabolic health markers.

GoodShoog™ is formulated with allulose, one of the rare sugars highlighted in this research. This study reinforces what we've built our product around: a sweetener that measures and bakes like sugar, without the glycemic impact.
